Information for Consumers
Whether flicking a light switch or dialing a long distance call, every day, Vermont consumers come face to face with the state's regulated utilities. These web pages contain a wealth of information to assist consumers in making choices about the increasingly complex worlds of telecommunications and energy. And when questions or problems arise with a regulated utility, these pages also contain resources that can help consumers resolve the issue.
Help When You Need It
The Department's Consumer Affairs & Public Information Division (CAPI) staff is here to assist with complaints that you are unable to resolve with utilities. We also provide information about utility issues to help educate consumers so they can more effectively advocate for themselves.
If you are having a problem with a utility, first, take a look at Your Rights as a Consumer, then contact your utility. If that conversation does not resolve things for you:
- Use our on-line complaint form or
- Contact us by phone, e-mail, mail or in person
