Broadband and Mobile Wireless Maps & Statistics
Through the State Broadband Data and Development project funded by the National Telecommunications Information Administration, the Broadband Mapping Team has been developing a variety of maps that show elements of broadband and cellular coverage.
Data about current broadband Internet service is gathered from service providers every six months by the Broadband Mapping Team, analyzed and then aggregated for each Census Block.
It's important to note that broadband coverage maps showing "current" Internet Service Providers are based on these federally defined Census Blocks, rather than specific addresses. In addition, they are current as of the latest posting of gathered data so can be "current" only up to the point when the most recent data was gathered and analyzed.
Projects-in-progress information for comes from Internet service providers who have recieved federal funding for broadband expansion projects and from the Vermont Telecommunications Authority.
Cellular coverage along most federal and state highways and some highly traveled town roadways has been gathered twice: in 2010 and again in 2013. Testing included service provided by major carriers: Verizon Wireless, U.S. Cellular, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. On the general maps, roadways noted as having coverage get coverage from at least one of those carriers.

The map is presented for general reference purposes only and may contain errors and omissions. This map depicts broadband service availability and characteristics for Vermont derived from data assembled by BroadbandVT.org. Data sources include information provided by broadband service providers, information developed by consultants from data generated through technical means and from publicly available sources.
Information on this map is displayed according to NTIA guidelines. Speeds shown are the maximum advertised speeds for the geographic features depicted, and must exceed the NTIA minimum definition for broadband speed (currently 0.768 Mbps download and 0.2 Mbps upload) to be included. Actual speeds may vary due to the granularity and currency of the data, technological limitations, and service plan limitations. Users of the site are encouraged to inquire directly to providers for the most up-to-date, detailed information regarding service availability, and speed for specific locations.
