Lifeline Awareness Week September 9-13, 2019

In today's increasingly interconnected world, telecommunications services provide a vital lifeline to emergency services, friends, and family.

Lifeline is a federal program that provides a $9.25 monthly discount on phone or internet service to eligible households. The Lifeline program makes telecommunications services more affordable to those most in need.

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA), and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), have designated the first week after Labor Day—this year, September 9-13, 2019—as National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week

You can contact your landline telephone or cell phone provider to find out if they offer a discount on your landline phone, cell phone or internet service. Participating providers are listed on the Department’s website.
