Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program = $42.5 billion to expand high-speed internet access by funding planning, infrastructure, and adoption across the country.
Program priorities:
- Unserved locations (no access to 25/3 Mbps)
- Underserved locations (no access to 100/20 Mbps)
- Community anchor institutions (without gigabit connections)
Vermont Status: Vermont has received BEAD planning funds for developing our 5-year plan and our Initial and Final Proposal for the NTIA. These proposals will release the remainder of the funds. The state's federal allocation is $228.9 million.
