Vermont has one natural gas distribution company, Vermont Gas Systems (VGS). VGS is subject to Vermont Public Utility Commission (PUC) rules regarding regulation of its service, including:
- PUC Rule 3.200 - Ratepayer Deposits for Gas, Electric, Water, Telephone, and Cable Television Service
- PUC Rule 3.300 - Disconnection of Residential Gas, Electric, and Water Service
- PUC Rule 3.400 - Disconnection of Cable Television Service and Non-residential Electric, Gas, and Water Service
Low-Income Assistance Program
The Vermont Gas Energy Assistance Program can help low-income Vermonters afford natural gas for their homes. If determined eligible, you'll get a 20% discount off your monthly natural gas bill. Households with a gross monthly household income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level are eligible for the discount.
