The attached table provides US Department of Energy’s response to a public question asked during the September 25, 2023 meeting of the Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel’s Federal Nuclear Waste Policy Committee. The table summarizes the design type and quantity of the "storage only" spent nuclear fuel cannisters and cask currently in use throughout the contiguous United States. This data was compiled from a Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Report identified in the table.
Dr. Sara Hogan of the US Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy provided the following presentation to the Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel (VT-NDCAP) Federal Nuclear Waste Policy Committee at the Committee's September 25, 2023 Meeting.
