  • Residents and businesses in Lamoille County and Rutland County are invited to celebrate their communities’ new availability of fiber broadband, the most recommended internet service delivery method by U.S. consumers. Upcoming ribbon cutting events for Lamoille FiberNet in Johnson on October 24 and Otter Creek Communications Union District (CUD) in Castleton on October 29 will include each being named a ‘Gig Community’, with member towns being named a ‘Gig Town’.  
  • Communities served by Lamoille FiberNet and Otter Creek CUD now have access to multi-gig speed internet from Fidium Fiber. Construction of Fidium’s all-fiber network began in May 2024 and was completed in September. More than 21,000 homes and businesses combined in Lamoille and Rutland counties now have access to Fidium’s future-proof fiber internet service, with additional expansion continuing to bring more Vermonters access to fiber. With this expansion, more than 118,000 Vermont homes and businesses now have access to Fidium Fiber.

  • Vermont Tech Jam is an annual career and tech expo, organized by Seven Days, that showcases some of Vermont’s most innovative companies. This year’s event takes place at Hula, a coworking campus on the Burlington waterfront.
  • Since 2008, each Tech Jam event has attracted hundreds of job seekers, career changers, tech professionals, college students, enthusiasts and anyone eager to learn from and connect with Vermont companies.

Women Can Do Stems and Trades Career ConferenceWomen can do

  • Vermont Works for Women’s Women Can Do is a one-day career exploration conference for girls and gender-expansive youth in grades 9-12. Through this inspiring experience, hundreds of high schoolers from around Vermont will have the opportunity to try new technical skills in STEM and skilled trades, meet industry professionals, and hear directly from women and gender-expansive employees about their careers in fields where their gender is often under-represented.
