The Federal Nuclear Waste Policy (FNWP) Committee of the Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel (VT NDCAP) will hold its first meeting of 2023 on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM.  As permitted by Act 1 of the 2023 Vermont Legislature, this meeting will be conducted solely as a webcast and teleconference. 

The subject of the March 6^th FWNP Committee meeting will be: Two Perspectives on Amending the 1982 & 1986 Nuclear Waste Policy Acts.  These perspectives will be provided by Jay Silberg, a Partner at Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pittman, LLP and Diane Curran, a Partner at Harmon, Curran, Spielberg and Eisenberg, LLP.

The VCBB was established by Act 71 (2021)—An act relating to accelerated community broadband deployment—to coordinate, facilitate, support, and accelerate the development and implementation of universal community broadband solutions. The board will develop policies and programs to accelerate community efforts that advance the State’s goal of achieving universal access to reliable, high-quality, affordable, fixed broadband achieving speeds of at least 100 Mbps symmetrical.

VT Community Broadband Board Meeting

The Vermont Department of Public Service (PSD) seeks feedback from stakeholders and ratepayers on the objectives and metrics by which the state should distribute federal funding provided under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

The IIJA creates funding opportunities open to Vermont to facilitate electric grid modernization for the purpose of preventing outages and enhancing the resilience of the electric grid. Section 40101(d) of the IIJA allows for states and Indian tribes to receive grants over a five-year period in an amount consistent with a pre-determined formula – approximately $3 million per year for Vermont – for uses that meet certain criteria.

On Wednesday, September 7, 2022 the PSD will convene an online public hearing from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. to provide opportunities for interested parties to learn about the IIJA funding opportunity and requirements, and share their perspectives on how the federal funds should be used to improve the resilience of the electric grid.
